Fact About Batiks


Batiks originated from the Javanese (one type of language found in Indonesia) "amba" and "point." "Amba" means "to write". The word Batiks refers to fabric with the pattern generated by the material "malam" (wax) is applied to the fabric, so that resist the entry of dye (dye), this technique is known as "wax-resist dyeing".

There is no historical information is quite clear about the origins of Batiks. Some suspect the Batiks technique comes from the Sumerian, then developed in Java, one of the islands in Indonesia, after popularized by traders from India.
