Various Kinds of Batik Fabric

Many kinds of batik fabric, distinguished by the manufacturing process, and some are distinguished by patterns / motives.

Batik fabric by the manufacturing process can be divided into five types, namely:

1. Batik Tulis, namely batik motif originally created by hand, which is drawn with a pencil and a canting to cover or shield the dye.
2. Batik Cap, that is the making of batik motives using stamps. Cap is usually made of copper that has been drawn pattern and stamped malam (hot wax).
3. Batik Printing, that is the motive batik printed with clichés / hand print
4. Batik Painting, batik is made without patterns, mix colors directly on the fabric
5. Batik Printing, that depiction batik using the machine. This type of batik can be produced in large quantities for use of modern machinery. Type batik printing questioned by some of the artists and artisans batik because it is destructive to the art of batik in, so they prefer to call the batik fabric.

Batik fabric by motif / pattern for each region is different. Indonesia consists of many islands have a very rich culture, including the art of batik fabric. Each area has their batik patterns. Areas of batik in Java include batik of Yogyakarta, Solo, Surakarta, Pekalongan, Cirebon, Madura, Suroboyo, batik gedog from Tuban, Malang and Tasikmalaya. Producing batik from the Sumatra came from South Sumatra (Palembang and Jambi). Batik fabric also comes from the island of Bali, and even Papua.
